Fits when: The market has long one-way runs. This system lives on a few big trades a year.
Turtle breakout (55/20)
Enter on a 55-channel breakout, exit on the 20 channel — the classic Turtle system.

Low win rate but a large RR — stay disciplined and do not skip signals. Enter when price breaks the 55-period high/low, exit when it breaks the opposite 20-period level.
How it works
Enter when price breaks the high or low of the last 55 periods, exit when price breaks the 20-period level in the opposite direction. The entry channel is longer than the exit channel, so the system enters slowly and exits quickly — on purpose.
What each parameter means
- ENTRY 55
- The number of periods used to set the entry high and low. Longer means fewer signals, but more meaningful ones.
- EXIT 20
- The number of periods used to exit. Shorter than the entry channel, so trades close before the trend fully reverses.
- RISK_PCT 1
- Each trade risks only 1% of capital.
When it fits, when it struggles
Struggles when: The market has no trend. This mechanism's win rate is already low, and in sideways periods it gets even lower.
Common mistakes
Skipping a signal because the previous trade just lost. With this kind of system, any profit tends to come from a few large winning trades, so skipping signals can mean missing exactly those trades.
