Only BUY when price is above EMA100, and the opposite for SELL. Combine with ATR to set a dynamic SL and hold trades with the main trend.
How it works
One long moving average acts as the dividing line: above it, the system only looks for buys; below it, only for sells. The stop-loss is not fixed but calculated from ATR, meaning from the market's actual range of movement at the time.
What each parameter means
- EMA 100
- The direction filter. Its long period makes it less affected by short-term swings.
- ATR_SL 1.5
- The stop-loss sits 1.5 times the average range away from the entry price. When the market moves strongly, the stop distance widens on its own.
- RR 2
- The profit target is twice the risk distance.
When it fits, when it struggles
Struggles when: Periods when price wobbles around the EMA. The system keeps switching the allowed direction, and every switch is a wrong entry.
Common mistakes
Removing the EMA filter to get more trades. That filter is the only thing stopping the strategy from trading against the main trend.
